Together for the Mediterranean - converging methodologies

16.05.2010

On 11-12 May and on 14 May, representatives of PAP/RAC, UNESCO-IHP, GWP-MED and SPA/RAC, all being partners in implementing the ICZM component of the GEF Strategic Partnership, met for the second time, now in the premises of PAP/RAC in Split, in order to discuss joint activities within the project. The partners developed a new set of activities aiming at converging their methodologies. Knowing that PAP deals with the coast, GWP with river basins and waters, and UNESCO-IHP with groundwater and aquifers, converging methodologies should ensure a better integration of the results as well as moving towards an eco-system approach.

The Project Manager, Mr. Ivica Trumbic, attended the meeting and complimented the partners for working towards valuable results. The partners agreed that the methodological framework that will be produced through the new set of activities and tested through the preparation of the ICZM Plans and ICZM Strategy would be a valuable output, perfect to replicate. The partners also agreed to meet in Athens, by the end of June, this time reinforced by methodology specialists, to continue working towards the convergence of their established methodologies.
