Today, the MedOpen Advanced course on ICZM announced results of the candidates. The best student is Ms. Zoi Konstantinou from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Congratulations, Zoi! As a reward, and to encourage future candidates to take part in the course, PAP/RAC will engage Zoi in some of its projects.
The students have been trained in the field of different ICZM skills and knowledge critical to today’s coastal management. The course was structured into three categories: skills that include conflict resolution (simulation game), communications (discussion forum) and policy and decision making (final essays). Three lecturers, coastal management experts, provided live support in these three categories, guidance and the feedback to the candidates. The course started with 22 candidates, but unfortunately, due to the political and other reasons in the region, six had to give up. Out of 16 candidates, 10 successfully ended the course and will be awarded the MedOpen Advanced Certificate. These candidates demonstrated high quality of their results, impressive understanding of the ICZM processes, motivation and commitment to ICZM as a best agreed tool for sustainable coastal management. The PAP/RAC MedOpen Team concluded that one more successful step had been taken towards building capacities and networks for the coastal management in the Mediterranean.
