In the frame of the CAMP Montenegro, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism organised a participatory workshop in Bar on March 21. The aim of the workshop was to identify some of the key problems dealing with sustainable development of coastal agriculture, tourism and spatial planning, as well as their root causes. The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants including representatives of national and local administration offices, NGOs and private institutions, as well as sectoral representatives.
The main conclusion of the workshop was that the biggest obstacles related to extensive transformation of the agricultural to buildable land and to the lack of the cross sectoral integration, in particular between tourism and agriculture. The participants emphasised the need for a stronger valorisation and utilisation of the cultural heritage, in particular in the tourism sector, as it could be considered as one of the most important tools for the diversification of the tourism offer.
According to participants’ comments, the workshop was very successful and it fulfilled their expectations. The next participatory workshop is planned for May.
