DG MARE, with the support of MSP Assistance Mechanism, organised the MSP Stakeholder Conference - Planning for the future of Europe’s Marine Space. The conference was organised on 14th and 15th June 2022 in Brest (France). This highly interactive conference focused on latest achieves, challenges and the future of EU Marine Spatial Planning.
PAP/RAC participated, as a panellist, to the important session on Moving towards 30% of marine protected areas in MSP.
This was the opportunity to present the latest important documents adopted in the framework of the Barcelona Convention, towards achieving protection of at least 30 % of Mediterranean marine space (Post-2020 SAPBIO; Post-2020 Regional Strategy). In line with those, important results from MSP in Montenegro on applying the ecosystem approach towards increasing the protection of the Montenegrin marine area were shared with the Conference participants.
From climate change to biodiversity protection, the conference offered a great discussion among MSP practitioners on the future of MSP.
