At the initiative of the Turkish delegation at the COP23 in December 2023 the CAMP project for Türkiye was approved by the conference. The preparatory activities started immediately so PAP/RAC organised a meeting in collaboration with the PAP/RAC FP Mr. Emrah Söylemez at the Ministry for Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change in Ankara 14 February 2024. The project area is the coastal zone with its marine part of the bay of Izmir. The meeting was attended by the colleagues of the planning department at the Ministry as well as by the staff of the office for EU and international projects collaboration, and the representatives of the Izmir Development Agency.
The objective was to discuss the activities of this CAMP and on how PAP/RAC could assist with the on-going work for the preparation of the coastal plan for the Izmir area including the MSP and LSI. In the discussions very concrete options for the assistance were proposed in particular for the preparation of the MSP and ICZM plan.
