Split-Dalmatia County organised a workshop on October 21st as a demonstration and contribution to the governance in its region, in the framework of the CREATE Interreg Italy-Croatia project. A workshop was organized in two panels, first one more general about the level of governance and its ingredients in the region as well as at the national level, and the second one dedicated to the burning issue of Croatia's coast – beach nourishment.
Among the 16 panellist that took the stage, the representatives of the national, regional and local government level, academia, NGOs and civil associations, a vivid discussion took place. Discussions continued with the representatives from the audience, which included also the business world representatives. During the discussions, an idea for an exciting project was proposed in which business, academia and the government together could launch an innovative solution for better monitoring and management of the land use in the coastal zone.
Exchange between majors of small cities along the coast faced to the complex autocracies and the scientists and NGOs fighting for the environment resulted in an increased level of understanding among all sides.
