Algeria to Host Mediterranean Coast Day Celebration 2024

We are pleased to announce that the Mediterranean Coast Day 2024 celebration will take place in Annaba, Algeria, in collaboration with the Algerian Ministry of Environment and Renewable Energy.

This year’s main event will highlight the remarkable contributions of women in addressing the region’s most pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, water scarcity, coastal urbanization, and biodiversity loss. Under our campaign “#WomensWave for coastal sustainability in the Mediterranean,” funded by the Global Environment Facility as part of the MedProgramme, the event will spotlight the incredible work women are doing around our coasts. It aims to inspire new perspectives, foster collaboration, and reinforce our commitment to a greener future.

As Veronique Evers, PAP/RAC’s gender focal point, reminds us: “Gender equality cannot be stressed enough. It fosters peaceful societies, alleviates poverty, and drives sustainability. That's why it's an essential part of everything we do at PAP/RAC.” The #WomensWave campaign supports Mediterranean countries in their pursuit of SDG 5: Gender Equality, a fundamental United Nations Sustainable Development Goal.
