On 21 May 2023, the last session of the in-depth training course on integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) was held in Tel Aviv, as one of the key capacity-building activities in the framework of the CAMP Israel project.
During an intensive 4-month period, starting on 24 January 2023, the representatives of the coastal authorities in Israel had the unique opportunity to learn about the ICZM concepts and tools, with a particular emphasis on the international and Israeli coastal policy, sustainable planning, climate change impacts, blue economy and coastal innovation, as well as the potentials and specific challenges of the coastal and marine areas in Israel.
The last training session was used to hand out the certificates of attendance to the training course participants and, most importantly, showcase the lessons learned, reflect on future developments on the local and national levels and share personal insights into the course.
Along with the participation of Ms Yehudith Mosseri, PAP/RAC Focal Point in Israel, several other honourable guests joined the last session to promote sustainable coastal development - MP Simon Davidson and MP Eli Dalal as two Israeli parliament members who represent the coastal lobby, Mr Moshe Fadalon, Herzliya Mayor and coastal authority’s chairman, Mr Ofir Pas-Pines, coastal authority’s CEO and Prof. Itay Sand, Dean of Social Studies Faculty in Tel Aviv University.
