A technical workshop on the implementation of IMAP has jointly been organised by PAP/RAC and INFO/RAC with the responsible IMAP users and colleagues dealing with monitoring of common indicators in Ankara, Turkey 17 and 18 May 2022. The first day we started with a general overview of IMAP, the 2023 QSR preparation and in particular on common indicators related to coast and hydrography, namely the CI 16 on coastline. The second part of the day was related to the practical exercise with the GIS experts when we discussed and provided details for monitoring the CI 16. All open issues were covered and the Turkish colleagues are convinced to provide monitoring data by autumn as they have approximately 5000 km of the coastline to monitor.
The second day was led by INFO/RAC and the focus was on the presentation of the IMAP Info system and in particular individual steps on how to upload the monitoring data, with the focus on the most frequent errors made by the IMAP users. A practical exercise took place for the CI 16 and for other IMAP indicators.
The workshop was also an opportunity to discuss with Mr. SÖYLEMEZ (PAP/RAC FP) and the director of the General Directorate of Spatial Planning at the Ministry of environment and urbanisation to identify possible cooperation activities with PAP/RAC on projects that would be important for Turkey.
