Towards the Regional Framework for ICZM

At the Extraordinary Meeting of PAP/RAC NFPs that took place in Athens, Greece, on 28 and 29 June 2017, participants agreed on the draft document that will serve as a ToR, i.e. a guiding reference for the preparation of the full text of the Regional Framework for ICZM, as required by the Article 17 of the Protocol, during the next biennium. It should assist the CPs to implement the ICZM Protocol in the region and strengthen regional co-operation for this purpose. In addition, the draft Conceptual Framework for MSP in the Mediterranean was also agreed as a first step towards the introduction of this relatively new instrument for the implementation of ICZM in Mediterranean territorial waters. Both documents will be further discussed at the MAP Focal Points meeting early September this year.
