Strategic objectives and a roadmap defined

The Third Workshop to prepare the National ICZM Strategy for Egypt was held in Cairo, on 23 April 2009. The Workshop organised in the framework of the SMAP III project was attended by more than 40 participants, including the representatives of coastal Governorates, the National Committee for ICZM, and relevant ministries and agencies. The main objective of the Workshop was to identify, discuss and define the ICZM strategic objectives and to outline a roadmap for their implementation. The initial session was devoted to the presentation of the relationships between the ICZM issues and the complexity of dealing with them at the national level, i.e. to understand the ‘big picture’ and not just a particular part of that ‘picture’.The results achieved are presented in the Workshop’s report.

In the weeks to come the final draft of the National ICZM Strategy for Egypt will be completed and presented to the Egyptian ICZM Committee and the Government.
