"Destinations" and CAMP Morocco making progress

On the occasion of workshops held from 7 to 9 April 2009 in Al Hocéima, the "Destinations" project and CAMP Morocco have managed again to create a strong synergy. About fifty national and local actors gathered to discuss with the teams of national and international consultants the strategy for tourism development in the zone of the central Rif, the CAMP pilot action focused on the Souani beach, and sustainability indicators.

A two-day work at the conference room and a one-day field trip ended up with very concrete results and, above all, allowed the participants to be acquainted with the position of those being most concerned with development options of this central part of Morocco's Mediterranean coast. Rich and lively discussions confirmed once again the importance of a participatory work, guarantee for a shared vision and a joint action of all the actors.

Particularly favourable was a visit to the Wali of Al Hocéima. This was an occasion to attract his attention to certain environmental aspects to be taken into consideration in the framework of future development projects, and to present him a note with recommendations related to the Souani project.
