During a two-day meeting of the Sub-regional expert group on Coast and Hydrography of the EcAp Med II project, held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 6 – 7 December 2017, representatives from the partner countries, national experts, the PAP/RAC team and consultants, discussed the following topics: Presentations of the final draft National Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programmes (IMAP - Coast and Hydrography indicators); State-of-the-art regarding the National IMAPs on Coast and Hydrography in other Mediterranean countries; Collaboration and experience-exchange on monitoring Coast and Hydrography between different sub-regional groups of countries; and a step-by-step implementation of the guidance fact sheets on the Coast and Hydrography indicators.
The lively discussions helped pave the way towards the future implementation of the national monitoring programmes developed within the EcAp Med II project. Other synergies with the Barcelona Convention system and EU initiatives have been discussed, to support the implementation of the Coast & Hydrography indicators, especially in the framework of the upcoming MedProgramme.
