MedOpen on MSP officially launched in the framework of the child project 2.1. of the MedProgramme

The MSP seminar was launched on November 15, 2022 by PAP/RAC during a virtual presentation. The event brought together around sixty participants, who heard about the training program spanning nearly two months.

Participants will first have the opportunity to study the lectures on the MedOpen site at their own pace. They will start by learning more about the concept of MSP, but also about the benefits it brings. After reviewing the objectives of MSP and the steps in this planning process, approaches to effectively implementing MSP will be discussed, including ecosystem-based management, ICZM and coastal land use planning. The last theme to be discussed is the blue economy. Each module is accompanied by videos carefully selected by PAP/RAC experts.

Participants have until the end of February to deepen their knowledge in the field of MSP, and will be able to attend two online workshops on February 22 and 23, 2023: the first entitled “Governance and Ecosystem Approach” and the second “Climate action and Land-Sea Interactions”.

The goal of this seminar is to support the establishment of a common basis for the implementation of the Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) within the Barcelona Convention system. Besides, it will provide the opportunity to share practices and lessons learnt from the MSP application across the Mediterranean region.

We welcome all those who participate in the adventure, and we hope that this activity organized within the framework of the MedProgramme will meet all their expectations in terms of capacity building.
