At the occasion of the World Wetlands Day we have the pleasure to share with you two videos that have just been produced in the frame of the MAVA project in Buna River Protected Landscape, Albania. This is an important coastal wetland with several issues including the risks related to climate change, the sea level rise in particular. You can find both videos at the following link.
Coastal wetlands are specific coastal ecosystems that have find their place also in the Article 10 of the ICZM Protocol in the Mediterranean. They play very important role at the interface between the land and the sea and have a great potential as a nature-based solutions to climate change adaptation. PAP/RAC and partners have elaborated on ‘governance for coastal wetlands’ recently and the Governance Handbook that provides also a Self-Assessment and Planning tool to assist coastal wetlands managers to track progress towards an effective and equitable governance.
