Extraordinary Meeting of MAP Focal Points

In order to consider the conclusions and recommendations of the Report on the External Evaluation of MAP and to make recommendations to the Meeting of the MAP Focal Points, an extraordinary meeting of the MAP Focal Points was convened in Catania (Italy), November 7- 11, 2006. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the future orientation of MAP. In the first part, the general discussion concerning the main principles about the future orientation took place. It was followed by the Vision and strategic statement of MAP, where it was concluded to establish a post-sessional drafting committee that would, in the months to come, prepare a new strategy statement document. A detailed presentation of the Co-ordinator about the proposals for implementing the recommendations of the external evaluation of MAP followed, and concrete proposals were given by the participants on how to improve them. In this framework the specific focus was put on the role of the MCDS. In the concluding part, the meeting identified the main topics of the agenda for the 15th Meeting of the Contracting Parties.
