Following the initial phase of the establishment of the Diagnostic Analysis, the "Destinations" project entered the phase related to the Assessment of Carrying Capacity for Tourism. This phase of the project includes, in the first place, the reinforcement of national capacities to apply the method of CCA for Tourism through the organisation of training courses in the project area. To that end, two training courses were organised. The first, which was held at Corba, in Tunisia, on April 23, 2008, was preceded by a field trip demonstrating a participative approach, and the other was held at Al Hoceima, in Morocco, on June 3-4, 2008. A meeting of the Steering Committee members who gathered in the premises of the SEEE/DSPR in Rabat, on June 3, 2008 preceded the latter.
Since the Moroccan component of the "Destinations" project makes an integral part of the PAP/RAC project for the Central Reef, the participants coming from the province of Chefchaouen took part at the Al Hoceima training course. On this occasion, they expressed the wish to organise the next training course in their province, which would give them the opportunity to invite their colleagues from Al Hoceima and to show them tourist potentials of the province.
The third and the last training course on CCA for Tourism will be organised in Algeria after the month of Ramadan. PAP/RAC and the national partner, MATET, are discussing the relevant practical details of the training course.
