"Destinations": Training courses in Tunisia

13.11.2008

As it had been announced two weeks ago, two workshops scheduled in the framework of the "Destinations" project were held on 11 and 12 November 2008, at Korba (Tunisia). Organised at the conference room of "Africa Jade" hotel at Korba, those workshops gathered more than thirty representatives of the Cap Bon municipalities, local NGOs and national institutions in charge of tourism and environment. The workshops provided an opportunity for the participants to express, during a vivid and interactive discussion, their ideas and concerns with regard to tourism development at Cap Bon. The interest expressed by the participants in tourism that respects environment and identity of the local population and the ideas, which they were able to pass on the project team, would facilitate the work on scenaria started by national consultants.

The "Africa Jade" hotel is a Tunisian pilot structure for the preparation of an "Ecolabel" file of the EU. The workshops provided an opportunity to discuss with hotel managers the present management practice and measures to apply in order to obtain the EU certificate in the near future.
