Under the umbrella of the EU regional macro-strategies for the Adriatic-Ionian region (EUSAIR) a workshop was organised on 23 September 2016 in the framework of the Coast Day/Week events in Izola, Slovenia.
The event was attended by the Adriatic-Ionian country representatives, as well as the European Commission representatives. The organiser was the Pillar 3 Environment led by Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The objective of PAP/RAC participation was to provide an insight into ICZM and MSP policies developed in the Mediterranean under the Barcelona Convention and in particular to mainstream the blue economy approach showing its benefits. Leaflets were distributed to participants in addition to the presentations given by the PAP/RAC representatives.
The event was a good opportunity to mainstream the blue economy concept into other regional/subregional processes and therefore influence other multilateral and international initiatives, which is one of the objectives of the MAVA Blue Economy for the Mediterranean project.
