Coast Expo held in Ferrara, Italy

A PAP/RAC representative participated at the Coast Expo in Ferrara, Italy, which took place on 21-23 September, in parallel with the RemTech Expo, and in the framework of the 2nd Ports National Conference. Coast is the only national event dedicated to coastal zone and sea management and protection, with the participation of the most competitive companies of the sector and the main authorities, such as Ministries, Ports, Regions and supervisory bodies.

The rich and diversified conference programme was about the themes of coastal protection, erosion, protection works, monitoring, dredging, sediment management, port operations, Marine Strategy and offshore. PAP/RAC was invited to the presentation of the activities of the National Board on Coastal Erosion, promoted by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Land and Sea, together with 15 coastal Regions. The National Board is leading the preparation of the Guidelines for fighting the coastal erosion and the impacts of the climate change. Different contributions to the guidelines were presented by the authors, taking into account geomorphological, hydrographic, legal, economic, biologic and other aspects. This collaboration of the 15 Italian coastal Regions is expected to contribute to the understanding of the importance of the ICZM Protocol in Italy.
