CAMP Var Steering Committee meeting

The meeting of the Steering Committee of the CAMP Var (CoPil) was organised at the Departmental Council of Var in Toulon on 13 March 2017. In addition to national project manager, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Departmental Council of Var, agglomeration community of Toulon-Provence-Méditerranée, Community of St. Tropez commune, Conservatoire du littoral (both international and PACA delegation), Departmental Direction of the territories and the sea of Var, Port Cros National Park and PAP/RAC, as well as by the associated external experts.

The partners recapitulated the activities and results of the project in 2016 and the participation of the CAMP Var team at the final conference of the CAMP Italy project. Particular emphasis was put on the survey conducted at the end of 2016, as well as on the need for a wider dissemination of the CAMP results. The CoPil members also discussed and validated the future activities for 2017, including the presentation of the “risks” platform project; the work of the Port Cros National Park on light pollution; presentation of the small sustainable island initiative and the ISOS project; the launching of the internship on the survey; and the global analysis of the terrestrial ship storage areas in the Var County.

The CoPil members also discussed and validated some other works, with a particular focus on the study on the evaluation of the sea and coastal management policies, where the additional work will have to bring ideas and recommendations for a more effective implementation of ICZM. This work will be an objective of a half-day session of the CAMP Var / European days 2017 side event, which will be held in Toulon on 27 June 2017. The second half of the event will be devoted to the presentation of the Maregot and Simwestmed projects with a view to discuss the potential common ground and ensure the continuity of certain activities of the CAMP. A call for contributions was launched for the next Bulletin #3 of the project, while the provisional agenda of the conference "Land-sea meeting... from Var to the Mediterranean" scheduled for the autumn 2017 was commented.
