The Mediterranean Coast Day celebration took place during a number of events that took place on 23 and 24 September 2021 in the frame of the CAMP B&H project. This included the capacity building activities organised within two training workshops. The first one on sustainable tourism development and in particular on how to balance between the coastal and hinterland, mainly rural, tourism. There are many development potentials that can be offered to tourists in rural areas so to reduce heavy pressures in the very narrow coastal strip. The second was on adaptation to climate change that tea area will face in the future. Therefore, a number of adaptation measures were discussed that will assist the municipality to cope with the serious challenge.
The second day started with a meeting of the CAMP project Steering Committee. The progress on the project implementation was presented and outputs of some activities presented including the one on tourism, climate change adaptation and monitoring of coastal indicator on the coastline. The meeting discussed of some urgent matters related to the nomination of institutions to be responsible for the implementation of IMAP. The very celebration took place in the afternoon with a number of welcome speeches and a very interesting presentation on sharks and rays in the bay of Neum. The majorettes, secondary school students and children from kindergartens from Neum performed the celebration programme to remember.
