On June 16, 2021, the Tunisian Coastal Protection and Planning Agency (APAL) in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) organized a virtual meeting to present the Tunisian national ICZM strategy to which PAP/RAC was invited.
The meeting began with an overview of the Mediterranean context by the Director of PAP/RAC, and continued with a presentation of the national strategy document. After discussing the obstacles and successes for the implementation of ICZM, the meeting ended with a presentation of the challenges of the ratification of the ICZM Protocol, which was a perfect occasion to make the link with the new project of the Global Environmental Facility: the MedProgramme, of which PAP/RAC is one of the partners, during which an analysis of the legal framework in relation to the requirements of the ICZM Protocol will be carried out.
We now hope that all the efforts made by our Tunisian colleagues will soon lead to the ratification of the ICZM Protocol, which has never seemed so close.
