It was with great sadness that we have received the news of the passing of Pierre Bougeant. He
left us on August 17, just a few days after his 70th birthday. We knew that he was fighting with
illness but we hoped he would win, as he usually did. Among others, he was one of the architects of the fierce negotiations leading to the adoption of the ICZM Protocol in the Mediterranean, a battle he won. And he won many other battles as a long-time partner of PAP/RAC in his role of the French National Focal Point. To quote his long-time friend and collaborator, Fabrice Bernard “But above all he was a man of infinite culture, always on the lookout for new trends, permanently connected, he was looking for the "World" in each corner of the Mediterranean, a great political connoisseur from the most local to the most global...”
Our sincere condolences go to his family, his wife, his son, his daughter-in-law and granddaughter (he was a grandfather for a few days) and all of his friends.
Rest in peace, dear Pierre.
