On 14-17 January 2014, the Final conference of the Pegaso project was held in Beldibi/Antalya, Turkey. The MedCoast Foundation, being one of the partners to the project, hosted the event.
During the three days of the meeting, the partners discussed the project’s overall results and presented the latest progress achieved within each work package. Moreover, contributions, experiences and lessons learned from each of the CASES were shared. Very interesting comments were made on the aspects that should be of most concern to advance the ICZM implementation in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. Based on the common shared knowledge, ideas and concepts were exchanged on how to build the governance platform of tomorrow, for these two seas. It was proposed that the future platform dedicated to ICZM would be hosted within the UNEP/MAP system. Also, the partners discussed the relation between ICZM, MSP, EcAp, etc. and the future of PEGASO in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. An interactive presentation of the SDI was concluded with the presentation of the business plan, identifying priority issues and actions to be taken. Finally, the preparation of a roadmap was addressed in order to better trace the future of the governance platform.
After three days of intensive work, the MedCoast team organised a field trip to the Southern part of the Antalya Bay. Please discover the highlight spots of the field trip on the following interactive map.
