Šibenik-Knin County’s Coastal Plan got the “Mediterranean Climate Change Adaptation Award” as an exemplary action of adaptation to climate change! The Award was conferred at the European Climate Change Adaptation Conference, held in Lisbon from 28-31 May.
This 2nd edition of the “Mediterranean Climate Change Adaptation Awards” is organised by the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME), with the support of its Mediterranean partners: the Union for the Mediterranean (UPM), Plan Bleu and the Agency for sustainable Mediterranean cities and territories (AViTeM). In the competition for the Award 28 projects from 9 Mediterranean countries participated. The award was given for 3 categories, and the Coastal Plan won the award in the category “Methods for designing and implementing public policies”, but also an overall award. The Award was conferred to the representative of the Šibenik-Knin County, the agency implementing the plan, and to the PAP/RAC representative, the leading author of the Plan. The Plan was prepared in accordance with the ICZM Protocol for the Mediterranean and as such it represents a model for other Mediterranean countries to follow. Therefore, this Award is even more valuable as a confirmation of the quality of the applied approach.
