From 29 June to 1 July 2025, the MEDIGREEN Workshop took place in Venice, Italy, bringing together project partners and representatives of competent authorities to explore how Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) can effectively support the European Green Deal (EGD).
Hosted in the unique setting of the Venetian Lagoon, the workshop provided a dynamic platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange. Participants engaged in interactive, hands-on sessions designed to dive deeper into key project assessment findings, encouraging practical reflection on how MSP tools and approaches can contribute to greener, more sustainable Mediterranean marine and coastal management.
PAP/RAC actively contributed to the workshop by presenting and engaging in high-level discussions on the assessment of the EGD components within Marine Spatial Plans. Emphasis was placed, among others, on PAP/RAC’s work in assessing the MSPs of Cyprus, Malta, Slovenia and Croatia, showcasing both methodological approaches and key findings.
Participants exchanged national experiences, assessment frameworks and recent results, fostering a constructive dialogue on common challenges and opportunities. The discussions were complemented by an interactive hands-on session, which enabled participants to further explore practical aspects of the assessment process. The strong level of engagement throughout the session clearly demonstrated the region’s shared commitment to aligning Marine Spatial Planning with broader sustainability and Green Deal objectives.
A hybrid Steering Committee meeting was also held during the event, enabling both in-person and online participation. The meeting focused on reviewing progress and aligning partners on the next steps of the MEDIGREEN project, ensuring continued cooperation and impact across the region.
