Jointly organised by the Union for the Mediterranean, PAP/RAC, UN-Habitat, IUCN, and in co-operation with DG NEAR, DG ENV, a Mediterranean wide workshop on legal-regulatory frameworks for coastal land management in Mediterranean countries was held in Mehon, Menorca, Spain on 15-16 June 2023. All Mediterranean countries but one were present, and met with the objective for the cross-national learning towards the adoption of more effective policy and legal-regulatory instruments necessary to meet the challenges of coastal sustainability and resilience in the face of climate change.
Several concrete and very informative examples have been presented and discussions that followed were vivid and constructive. PAP/RAC contributed with the presentation of the ICZM Protocol and Artt. 8, 18 and 20 in particular, its consultants from Morocco and Montenegro presented various land policies and related projects implemented in the last decade under the Centre's coordination that have greatly contributed to the establishment of new or improvement of existing land management policies, as well as by chairing the related panel discussions. Each presentation was followed by very lively and constructive discussions.
