On April 23, the third and last stakeholder consultation workshop in the framework of the National ICZM Strategy for Algeria took place in Tipasa. As the two previous ones, the workshop was organised by the Algerian Ministry of Land-use Planning, Environment and Town with the support of PAP/RAC and local authorities. The event gathered about 70 participants from the Wilayas of Alger, Chlef, Boumerdès and Tizi Ouzou, and was followed by regional and national media. During the discussion in small groups, participants were invited to answer to questions, such as “Are the existing institutions able to cope with all environmental problems in coastal zone?”, or “How to engage the biggest number of relevant stakeholders in decision-making process?”.
However, ending the workshop cycle does not mean that the consultation is over. A questionnaire has been prepared in order to be widely distributed to stakeholders, allowing, among others, the stakeholders from the furthest Wilayas from the workshop’s places, which were less represented, to express their views and suggestions.
