Historic Dubrovnik hosts a debate on sustainability

22.10.2013

At the invitation of UN DESA, the PAP/RAC Director participated at a two-day Mediterranean workshop on science-policy interface, organised by UN DESA and the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik, on 21 and 22 October 2013. The workshop is one in a series of regional workshops that contribute to the preparation of the Global Report on Sustainable Development.

That was an occasion to contribute with the UNEP/MAP and PAP/RAC experience and present the ICZM Protocol and the role and place of ICZM with regard to coastal sustainability. The importance and the uniqueness of the Protocol was fully recognised by the authors of the report, which is an excellent occasion to promote the Protocol worldwide, all in accordance with the objective 3 of the Action Plan for its implementation in 2012-2019.

During the workshop, MCSD was suggested as a good forum for continuing the work on sustainable development in the Region, and to put forward the work initiated for its reform and the revision of the MSSD.
