The United Nations celebrate World Oceans Day every year on 8 June, following the decision of the United Nations General Assembly of 2009 that 8 June would be designated by the United Nations as “World Oceans Day”. Even before, since 1992, many countries have spontaneously started celebrating this special day, following the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in Rio de Janeiro.
