The Working Group on the Common Regional Framework (CRF) for ICZM met for the second time in Athens, on 30-31 May 2018. The WG composed of the CPs’ representatives is mandated by the COP 20 (Tirana, December 2017) to develop the full text of the CRF. Alongside the representatives of PAP/RAC and the Coordinating Unit, the CPs represented at the meeting were Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy and Turkey.
On the basis of the agreed distribution of work at the first meeting the WG’s members provided contributions to specific chapters of the CRF. A complete draft was used as a working document at the meeting in Athens. The meeting worked on the text of individual chapters and made a very good progress on the draft. Further work was agreed on refining some specific elements. A bit more efforts will have to be done regarding the chapter on Ecosystem-Based Management for GES and SD.
The next step along the process is the consultation meeting with all CPs which is scheduled during the occasion of the Coast Day celebration in Split, end September 2018.
