At the invitation of IDDRI – the French Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations, the PAP/RAC Director took part in the online workshop organized on 6-7 April 2021 on the theme of options to operationalize mainstreaming of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework. This online informal workshop gathered more than 50 negotiators and experts from all over the world to take stock and identify policy options to support the implementation of post-2020 biodiversity goals and targets. The workshop offered a multi-actor (international organizations and conventions, business, academia) and multi-level (international, regional, national) perspective in order to illustrate some concrete challenges and opportunities until and after COP15.
The PAP/RAC Director was invited to make the introductory presentation within the Discussion session 3 on “Mainstreaming of biodiversity in coastal areas (tourism, urban planning, fisheries)”. That was an occasion for her to share with the audience the key lessons learned from thirty years of Mediterranean experience in mainstreaming biodiversity protection through ICZM and lately MSP, accompanied with some concrete examples and achievements.
