Training workshops on IMAP Ecological Objectives 5 (Eutrophication) and 9 (Contaminants) were organized for Albanian and Montenegrin experts on 2 and 3 October 2018 in Podgorica, Montenegro. These workshops were held within the frame of the GEF Adriatic project “Implementation of Ecosystem Approach in the Adriatic Sea through Marine Spatial Planning”. In addition to experts of both eligible countries - Montenegro and Albania, the workshops were attended by representative of PAP/RAC and three PAP/RAC consultants (i.e. international experts on, respectively, Eutrophication and Contaminants, and an international lead marine monitoring expert). On 2nd October, the meeting discussed an overview of EO5 (Eutrophication), and the details on its indicators; guidance on the development of the thematic Monitoring Programme for this Ecological Objective; and the outline of the knowledge gap assessment. On 3rd October, the same topics were discussed for five indicators of EO9 (Contaminants). This was a first set of training workshops held as a part of the GEF Adriatic project, a start of concrete activities of collaboration between eligible countries and MAP RACs on carrying out the project with the final intention to restore the ecological balance of the Adriatic Sea.
