First meeting of the County Committee for ICZM

On 3 November, the first meeting of the recently established Committee for ICZM was held at the premises of the Šibenik-Knin County. The County Prefect expressed his satisfaction to have the first County Committee in Croatia, just as the Šibenik-Knin County is the first Croatian County that has a Coastal Plan. The Committee was established with the adoption of the ICZM Plan by the County Council, and led by the County Prefect. Representatives of the Committee were proposed within the Plan, as follows:

A representative of the County Department for Agriculture was also present at the meeting, as well as a representative of the City of Vodice which was proposed as a possible site for applying the integrated approach in adaptation to climate variability and change. At the meeting, the draft Action Plan was presented, and the members were invited to provide comments and to confirm their leading role in implementing individual measures. Another objective of the meeting was to inform each other on current activities related to the coast, and to identify synergies. Information was exchanged on the current project proposals in preparation by different institutions, and ideas born on possible collaboration. During the meeting, the Plan’s Atlas was also presented, which raised lots of interest by all members. Members agreed on the usefulness of this meeting and raised hopes to meet again very soon, to adopt the Statute of the Committee and the Action Plan.
