On the 28th and 29th of March 2023, in Marseilles (France), PAP/RAC organized a Meeting of the Ecosystem Approach Correspondence Group on Monitoring (CORMON) Coast and Hydrography. The meeting brought together representatives of 13 Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention, PAP/RAC, Plan Bleu and UNEP/MAP officers, in the framework of EcAp Med III project.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the content of the 2023 Quality Status Report (QSR) chapters on IMAP Ecological Objectives (EO) 7 and 8; solutions to strengthen the Science Policy Interface (SPI) for the implementation of IMAP - with a focus on CI 15 on hydrography ; the upgraded Guiding Factsheet for the Candidate Common Indicator 25 “Land cover change”; and the definition of GES for the Common Indicator 16 “Length of coastline subject to physical disturbance due to the influence of human-made structures”. The upgrade of the Candidate Common Indicator 25 was supported by the GEF MedProgramme.
Before the closure of this productive two-day meeting, the Conclusions and Recommendations were adopted to serve as guidance for the implementation of IMAP and therefore, facilitate the preparation of the QSR in the upcoming months.
