It has become tradition in the Mediterranean to celebrate the Coast Day after it had first been organised in 2007. And it went on, growing and flourishing, for 13 years. This year it was to be organised in the beautiful island state of Malta. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it had to be postponed for the next year. However, that does not mean that we shall not have our Coast Day. We shall, but this time it will not be dal vivo but only virtual. In cooperation with the MAP Coordinating Unit and INFO/RAC we are preparing a special web site dedicated to this year’s Coast Day. It will be less formal, with contents for all social and age groups. Link to the site will be available here in due time.
Should any country decide to organise their local events, we strongly encourage them and offer our advice and assistance. In any case, everybody is advised to follow all safety measures. For the moment, we have announcements from Croatia, France, Italy, Slovenia, as well as Albania and Montenegro through the support of the GEF Adriatic project, that they plan to organise a Coast Week. There is also a possibility that events will be organised in Morocco and Tunisia.
