During the opening session of the 14th meeting of the MCSD in Budva, Montenegro, on 30 May 2011, the Agreement for CAMP Montenegro was signed by the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Predrag Sekulic, and Ms. Maria Luisa Silva Mejias, UNEP/MAP Co-ordinator. This concluded an intensive negotiation process by which, after the Feasibility Study was finalised, new development contexts had to be taken into account, including the streamlining and upgrading the CAMP project to the requirements of the ICZM Protocol. Once the National Project Co-ordinator is selected, the preparation of the Inception Report will start.
The project is tailored in a way as to assist Montenegro to implement the ICZM Protocol. Therefore, in addition to capacity building and awareness raising, the key activities planned for the period 2011-2013 within the CAMP include: support for the preparation of the Coastal Area Spatial Plan (in terms of methodological support and preparation of coastal studies); preparation of the ICZM Plan, contributing to the CASP (mainly through recommendations of institutional mechanisms and other instruments necessary for the CASP implementation); and, if necessary, an SEA for the ICZM Plan will also be undertaken. Besides PAP/RAC as the CAMP Co-ordinator on behalf of UNEP/MAP, other MAP components will be involved in the implementation of the CAMP, namely, the MEDPOL, the Info/RAC, the SPA/RAC and the CP/RAC.
