The Emilia Romagna region was the host of the Mid-Term Conference for the CAMP Italy project that took place at the Cappella Farnese in Bologna on 21 March 2016. Taking into account the issues being at the heart of the project, the event was named Actions and Tools for Coastal Management. The objectives of the conference were to review the progress done so far and plan the future activities as the project is entering its final stage.
After the welcome by representatives of the national and regional authorities and the PAP/RAC Director, the first session was devoted to Pilot actions implemented by the three regions involved in the project, namely Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Sardinia. The session that followed was focused on horizontal activities including the Web-GIS platform, the e-learning MedOpen training course and participatory processes. In the afternoon workshop, a focus was put on the planning issues in coastal areas. After a couple of introductory presentations, a lively debate developed around this important issue of ICZM.
The following day, a field trip was organized to the Delta of the river Po, i.e. the Comacchio area. Several aspects of the protection and use of natural resources, including the natural and cultural heritage and traditional fishing were presented and discussed.
