Mr Larid left us too soon

19.05.2017

It is with great sadness that the PAP/RAC team learned today of the passing of its long-time collaborator and friend, Mr Mohamed Larid. Mr Larid was among the pioneers of ICZM in Algeria, accompanying PAP/RAC from the early 2000s in the framework of the Coastal Area Management Programme (CAMP) for Algeria. As a person in charge of participatory activities, he organized numerous “Imagine” workshops during which he encouraged everybody to think about and act for the future of the Algerian coast. He was a bit of a dreamer, which sometimes enabled him to go beyond what seemed possible. In his last collaboration with PAP/RAC on the Coastal Plan for Reghaïa, Mr Larid was a talented team leader who knew how to get the best of the experts he was working with. Mr Larid cared also to insure the future for ICZM, systematically involving his students in the ICZM issues. For PAP/RAC, he was a precious collaborator we shall regret for a long time.
