The Final Conference of the PAP/RAC activities within the MedPartnership and ClimVar & ICZM projects was organised on May 12-13 in Split, in the Gothic Hall of the City Museum. The Conference was organised back-to-back with the PAP/RAC National Focal Points meeting, in order to secure wide dissemination of the MedPartnership results, but also to secure timely and thorough information on PAP/RAC activities for all the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention. Last but not least, back-to-back organisation secured savings of the financial resources, as well as of the travel days for all the national representatives involved in ICZM activities. The Conference was attended by MedPartnership representatives of Algeria, Croatia, Montenegro and Palestine, and by PAP/RAC NFPs of Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Montenegro, Morocco, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey. In addition, the MedPartnership project manager, experts from Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Morocco, Spain and the UK, as well as PAP/RAC representatives attended the meeting.
Most of the PAP/RAC activities are under completion so that PAP/RAC was in the position to present almost all of the activities in great detail. These activities are representing today the offer of the “products” that PAP/RAC is in the position to offer to the Mediterranean countries for replication. Reactions of the participants were remarkably positive and confirmed the need for the activities of this type as implemented within the two projects.
After the meeting, PAP/RAC organised a field trip to the zone in which a Coastal Plan with specific focus on climate variability and change has been developed, that is to the coastal zone of the Šibenik-Knin County, including a boat trip.
