The project addressed a range of environmental and development challenges affecting Albania&#8217;s coastal areas, including pollution, unsustainable agricultural practices, air quality, land and water management, and pressures on natural and cultural resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project combined prospective analysis, legal and institutional development, sectoral studies, and integrated management approaches. Particular attention was given to water resources management, environmental assessment, tourism, and the protection and management of historic settlements in the Durr\u00ebs\u2013Vlor\u00eb region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Building on the assessment of Albania&#8217;s coastal and environmental challenges, the project aimed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>protect and rationally utilise coastal resources over the long term<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>establish appropriate management measures to address existing environmental conflicts and support sustainable development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop the Albanian coastal area in harmony with the receptive capacity of the environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>create conditions for integrated planning and management of coastal resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> provide solutions to urgent environmental problems through targeted project activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>strengthen institutional capabilities and support the application of integrated coastal management approaches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main results <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>integrated planning: supported the development of integrated approaches to coastal and marine area management, particularly for the Durr\u00ebs\u2013Vlor\u00eb region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>environmental management: addressed land-based sources of pollution, marine pollution monitoring, water resources management, agricultural and forestry issues, and environmental impacts associated with development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>legal and institutional development: contributed to the development of environmental legislation and to the implementation of relevant protocols and management measures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>technical studies: examined issues including physical planning in seismically active areas, expected climatic changes, agriculture and forestry, and the protection and management of historic settlements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>capacity building: considerably improved the capabilities of Albanian institutions responsible for different aspects of coastal area management. Training courses and on-the-job training strengthened institutional knowledge and enabled participating institutions to continue applying their experience independently.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:24px\"><strong>Follow-up<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results of CAMP Albania provided a basis for further coastal management work in the country. Following the project, PAP\/RAC and its associates Dobin Milus International (DMI) were entrusted by the World Bank with preparing an overall Coastal Zone Management Plan for Albania&#8217;s remaining two coastal regions, the North and South Regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main goals of this subsequent work were to contribute to biodiversity protection, tourism development, and institutional capacity building, building on the experience and recommendations generated through CAMP Albania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":3725,"parent":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":true},"project-category":[204],"project-status":[194],"class_list":["post-8085","project","type-project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","project-category-camp","project-status-completed"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project\/8085","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/project"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3725"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8085"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"project-category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project-category?post=8085"},{"taxonomy":"project-status","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/paprac.org\/hr\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/project-status?post=8085"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
