It has become a Mediterranean tradition to celebrate the Coast Day as a good promotional tool for raising awareness of the value of the coast and of its various issues. As usually, the central regional Coast Day celebration will be organised on September 25 to honour the date when Slovenia ratified the ICZM Protocol<\/a> as the first Mediterranean country to do so. This year, it will take place in Tunisia, on the coast of the gulf of Tunis, hosted by the Tunisian Ministry of Equipment, Spatial Planning and Sustainable Development. Climate variability and change and integrated coastal zone management will be the central topics of this year’s celebration. The host of the official part of the celebration will be H.E. Mr. Mounir Majdoub, Tunisian Secretary of State for Sustainable Development, while the whole event will be co-organised by APAL (Agence de Protection et d’Am\u00e9nagament du Littoral – Coastal Protection and Planning Agency) and PAP\/RAC.<\/p>\n Apart from the central regional celebration, each country is invited to organise national and\/or local events.
