The webinar addressed these interconnected pressures through two case studies showcasing adaptation approaches in different Mediterranean settings: the Venice Lagoon in Italy and the Ebro Delta in Spain.

The two case studies illustrated how adaptation requires a combination of technical interventions, ecosystem restoration and integrated approaches to coastal management. They also highlighted the importance of addressing the underlying processes affecting coastal systems, rather than focusing exclusively on individual risks or isolated protection measures.

The webinar was facilitated by Ivan Sekovski, Programme Officer at PAP/RAC, and drew on the Global Leading Practices for Coastal Resilience report, to which PAP/RAC contributed the Mediterranean chapter. The exchange provided an opportunity to share practical experiences and lessons learned, underlining the value of regional knowledge-sharing and integrated coastal planning in responding to sea-level rise and other climate-related challenges.

Participants from all around the world have been invited to find out more about Mediterranean experience through PAP/RAC’s MedAdapt platform on coastal resilience, as well as to visit PAP/RAC web site and learn more about ICZM Protocol, UNEP/MAP CAMPs and recent PAP/RAC Coastal plans focused on coastal resilience and sustainability.

PAP/RAC continues to support the exchange of knowledge and good practices that can help Mediterranean countries strengthen the resilience of their coastal areas.

["post-12835","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
