Mediterranean experience at the International Coastal Symposium (ICS 2021)

The PAP/RAC Director was given the honour to open the third day of the International Coastal Symposium (ICS 2021), held in virtual mode on 3-5 May from Seville, Spain, and to deliver the keynote speech about the Mediterranean, the challenges that the Region faces in terms of environmental protection and the efforts made together by the riparian States within the Barcelona Convention system to protect coastal and marine environment and make the Region’s economy more sustainable.

The Symposium was hosted by the Coastal Environments Research Group, Universidad Pablo de Olavide de Sevilla, under the auspices of the Coastal Education and Research Foundation (CERF) and the Journal of Coastal Research (JCR).

The ICS brought together delegates from all over the world to collaborate and discuss the most current coastal research studies and projects. The proceedings of the conference, published as peer-reviewed papers in the Journal of Coastal Research, represent an invaluable resource for coastal scientists, engineers and managers.
