Littoral 2008 Conference Held in Venice

LITTORAL 2008 is a major European coastal event attracting an international audience of coastal researchers, managers, practitioners and public administrations. The 9th Littoral Conference "A Changing Coast: Challenge for the Environmental Policies" was held in Venice on 25-28 November 2008 in the beautiful premises of the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista. The principal organiser of the conference was CORILA, an interuniversity body specialised in ICZM from Venice.

The conference was attended by more than 300 participants. The conference had 8 themes each one with a large number of papers and posters presented. Mr. Ivica Trumbic, PAP/RAC Director, had a keynote presentation on the ICZM Protocol. During the conference, a meeting of the EU ICZM Expert Group was held, where ICZM Protocol was also presented. During the last day of the conference, a meeting of a large number of ICZM stakeholders was held with the aim of establishing the European Coastal Marine and Maritime Platform.
