The Third Steering Committee Meeting of the MedPartnership was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 15-17 May 2012. The meeting, which was hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization of Turkey, was attended by representatives from Algeria, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, Lebanon, Montenegro, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority and Tunisia, as well as by representatives of the EC, Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the French Development Agency, UNEP, the WB, FAO, UNIDO, MAP with its RACs - PAP, CP, SPA and the Blue Plan, WWF, GWP-Med, and MIO-ECSDE.

After presenting the achievements of the project in its third year, it was agreed that the project was now developing successfully in terms of its policy, management and capacity building activities. Also, all 79 demonstrations are in full implementation thanks to the efforts of the participating countries and executing partners.

Following the Steering Committee meeting, on 17 May, a new project -  “Integration of climatic variability and change into national strategies to implement the ICZM Protocol in the Mediterranean”, endorsed by the GEF in January 2012, held its first meeting to launch the Inception Phase of the project. PAP/RAC is a partner in both projects with a large number of activities all aiming to assist implementation of the ICZM Protocol in the countries.
