28.04.2015

Ministry of Environmental and Nature Protection in collaboration with PAP/RAC organised a 6th meeting of Croatian Inter-ministerial committee to present the assessments performed in the framework of the ClimVar & ICZM project, as well as the progress of the MedPartnership replication project in Croatia. The Inter-ministerial committee, created for the preparation of the Croatian Coastal and Marine Strategy, is composed of more than 50 representatives of different ministries, institutes and agencies dealing with coastal and marine issues. On this occasion the following was presented: the results of the DIVA assessment of the damage caused by sea-level rise for Croatia; assessment of costs due to climate change for the Šibenik-Knin County; and Initial assessment of the state of the terrestrial part of the coastal zone. The meeting was introduced to the theme by Mr. Krešo Pandžiæ, Deputy Director of the Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Croatia. Representatives of the Croatian Waters contributed to the meeting by presenting their activities relevant to the obligations of the flood risk management according to the EU Flood Directive. The participants provided some clarifications, which were used to improve the results of the studies. Through the ClimVar and ICZM activities the Croatian Coastal and Marine Strategy obtained an important input to cover the issues related to the climate variability and change, in particular to the sea-level rise.
